Sawyer Camp Trail, one of the Peninsula’s most popular places to walk, run or bicycle, will be closed from Wednesday, August 15, through Friday, August 17, for construction related to the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission’s $4.6 billion Water System Improvement Program.
The trail is expected to reopen by 6 a.m. Saturday, August 18. Sawyer Camp stretches from Crystal Springs Road west of San Mateo to Hillcrest Boulevard in Millbrae.
Work in the area involves seismic upgrades to a water pipeline that runs next to the trail.
Construction on what’s called the Crystal Springs/San Andreas Transmission System is expected to be complete in fall 2013.
The Crystal Springs Reservoir System serves as the supplementary and emergency water supply for over 1 million people in northern San Mateo and San Francisco counties.
