Three Screenings of “Bullying: A Culture of Silence” at San Mateo County Libraries

In recognition of Anti-Bullying Month, the San Mateo County Library is pleased to announce a presentation by the filmmaker and a screening of Bullying: A Culture of Silence.

Filmmaker Sunnie McFadden-Curtis has produced a candid documentary which profiles the profound and lasting consequences that bullying has on the victims, their families and friends, the bystanders, as well as the bullies themselves. Over three years of research and interviews has given McFadden-Curtis a unique, first-hand look into the destructive culture of long-term bullying and the rationale behind the silence that surrounds it.

Join McFadden-Curtis as she hosts a screening of her outstanding Canadian documentary and a discussion into the causes of bullying and its consequences. She offers tools to educate and assist families who are embroiled in these devastating situations. Join the conversation!

Film screenings and presentations will be held at the following library locations:

·         Friday, October 19, 5 p.m. at East Palo Alto Library, 2415 University Ave., 94303,  650-321-7712

·         Saturday, October 20, 2 p.m. at Portola Valley Library, 765 Portola Road, 94028, 650-851-0560

It encourages families, and communities to prioritize respect and civility and to engage in a deeper conversation about civil behavior and acceptable norms for a caring community.
